Thornybush Main Lodge is an exclusive hideaway in the heart of the Lowveld. Set in a 14, 000 hectare reserve, north west of the Kruger National Park, Thornybush Main Lodge is an exceptional property where attention to detail and highly personalised service make for a memorable stay.

The lodge facilities comprise of a pool, a spa, a library with TV, a boma, a fully equipped conference facility and a curio shop. Between safaris browse the library or relax at the infinity pool with a cocktail.

Thornybush has an excellent children's programme, with a dedicated ranger, each child is given a 'Ranger Training' kit, and whilst they will not be allowed on game drives, unless over 12 years old, there is plenty of fun, and educational activities for them to participate in.

Game Viewing
Not quite the prestige or potential for game as the Kruger or Sabi Sands Reserve as this is a fenced property. The Big 5 are all resident within the reserve, but in our opinion the game viewing does not match that of the Sabi Sand's Lodges but then neither does the price! Value for money especially for a first time safari.

Rooms
Stylish air-conditioned suites and extensive living areas overlook the seasonal Monwana River, the bathrooms have massive picture windows overlooking the river bed, the savannah and an active water hole. All the suites have en suite facilities, and some have outdoor showers.

Dining
The food at Thornybush Main Lodge is superb, certainly amongst the best we've tried in the Kruger. Breakfast and lunch are buffets on the deck, offering fantastic variety and imaginative dishes. Dinners can be served in the bush, on the deck, in the air-conditioned dining room, or by the fire in the 'boma', under a canopy of stars. Private dining is also offered. All meals are included.
