Mala Mala

Located at the southern end of the Sabi Sands Reserve, Mala Mala has an unrivalled reputation for game viewing, anywhere in the world. The largest privately owned tract of land adjoining the Kruger National park, with 12 miles of unfenced common border.

Mala Mala has built up a reputation, not only for its game but the very highest standards of service and food. In our opinion it lags behind a little on the accommodation, as most other top lodges now feature a private deck with plunge pool for every room. If game viewing is your priority, then Mala Mala must be your choice.

The decor reflects the fact that this was once a hunter's camp and the walls bear testimony to this with magnificent trophies and memorabilia. Large sumptuous lounges and seating areas open out onto the deck where meals and drinks are served. There is a lovely large infinity pool with sun loungers and for those feeling really energetic, an air-conditioned gym. Watch from the pool or sip an afternoon cooler as elephants, buffalo and game pass along the river bed in front - awe inspiring.

Game Viewing
The ultimate in bushveld game viewing in our opinion. The Mala Mala statistics speak for themselves with approx 75% of all guests seeing the Big 5 during their stay. Mala Mala does not have traversing rights with any other Lodges so you will not be bumping into other vehicles, only other guests staying on the Mala Mala reserve. It is no surprise that film crews from around the world make a beeline for Mala Mala to film the big cats.

Rooms
Styled on traditional African rondavels, the rooms are set back from the river, each with magnificent views into the bush. The double or twin rooms are spacious and airy, each with 2 bathrooms, a seating area and walk-in cupboards. Outside is a private patio with chairs.

Dining
All meals are included, and are served on the deck, or inside the dining area. Depending on the season you will either be served biscuits and hot drinks before you leave on your game drive, and breakfast on your return, or in winter, you will have breakfast before you go out.

There is buffet lunch for those that can manage it, and dinner is served on your return from the evening game drive. In summer month's dinner is served in the 'Boma', under the stars. Rates include all house wines with dinner and meals.
