River Club

The River Club is situated on the Zambian side of the Zambezi River, 18 kilometres upstream from Victoria Falls. The camp has a distinct Edwardian flavour, and guests here enjoy the sights and sounds of Victoria Falls and the Zambezi River in a peaceful and tranquil setting away from the crowds.

The main colonial style club building houses the dining room, sitting room and reception. It has a well stocked library which is focused on the history of Southern Africa. The River Club faces west on to the Zambezi River with spectacular views of islands and the Zambezi National Park which are frequented by elephants and hippo.

There are superb views from the large and inviting swimming pool, which is furnished with sun loungers and an ever-vigilant uniformed waiter to offer you whatever food or drink you desire. If you relish style, comfort and relaxation in an elegant colonial setting, then The River Club is the right choice for you.

Rooms
Ten luxury, thatched chalets overlook the Zambezi River, and have en-suite facilities including a bath, shower, toilet and basin. All the rooms have fans. The rooms are all completely open in the front giving guests an amazing view of the river even from your bath tub!

Dining
A River Club evening ritual is the sundowner river cruise, followed by a silver service dinner by candlelight with all guests seated around one long dining table. The owner or manager hosts the dinner and this of course leads to the telling of many stories and the sipping of much fine wine. Post dinner drinks are enjoyed on the veranda facing the Zambezi, or while playing a game of croquet on the lawn.

Activities:
Sunset Zambezi cruises are a speciality, where you see hippos, crocs, the occasional antelope on the islands and riverbanks and lovely birdlife.

Canoe trips visit to Musi oa Tunya National Park, visits to historical Livingstone, Livingstone Museum and the Railway museum, visits to the Zimbabwe side of Victoria Falls, nearby African villages and stone age sites are all included in the rates.

The following activities can be arranged at an extra cost: Game walks and drives, full day canoeing, white water rafting, bungi jumping, helicopter and microlight flights, elephant back safaris and river boarding, horse-riding & clay-pigeon shooting.
