Winelands Golf Itinerary From £1350.00pp

9 Nights & 5 Rounds of Golf

Nestled between the Atlantic Ocean, and the heights of Mountain, Cape Town is rightly regarded as one of the world's great cities and leading golfing destinations. Drive 45 minutes and you're in the Winelands with its world-renowned wine estates, superb golf courses and delightful historic towns of Stellenbosch and Paarl: the perfect add-on to Cape Town.

This self drive itinerary is based in central Cape Town & the Winelands. We prepare a Personalised Travel Digest which details all the directions you need to each golf club and to your hotel. It also contains suggested itineraries for sight seeing, maps and places to visit en route.

Day 1
Depart London Heathrow on your overnight flight to Cape Town.

Day 2
On arrival at Cape Town you will be met by our representative who will hand over your travel documents and your Personal Travel Digest, which details all your journeys throughout your stay, with suggestions for sightseeing and places of interest. You will have a private transfer to your hotel, the luxurious 4 Rosmead, in the heart of Cape Town.

Check in, freshen up and either relax by the pool or head out to see some of Cape Town's famous sights. Your Group B Hertz hire car, will be delivered to the hotel at a pre-arranged time, so you will have use of the car for the rest of the day if you would like it.

Overnight at Four Rosemead in a luxury room on a Bed & Breakfast basis.

Day 3
Breakfast. Morning round of golf at Milnerton Golf Club, offering great views of Table Bay. Afternoon free to explore Cape Town, Signal Hill and some of its surrounding beaches including Camps Bay. Overnight at Four Rosemead in a luxury room on a Bed & Breakfast basis.

Day 4
Breakfast. Morning round of golf at Westlake Golf Club. Afternoon free for sightseeing, such as a visit to the summit of Table Mountain, reached by the cable car. Overnight at Four Rosemead in a luxury room on a Bed & Breakfast basis.

Day 5
Breakfast. A day at leisure. We have plenty of suggestions for a day trip, or the best way to take in the cities' sights and will be pleased to put together a self-drive itinerary for you, such as a self drive trip to the Cape Peninsula. Pass through picturesque Hout Bay and follow the coast to the Cape Peninsula National Park to see the traditional tip of Africa. You may see ostriches or small antelope whilst you drive through the Park. Stop at Boulders Beach to see the resident African (Jackass) Penguin colony. Walk among the huge granite boulders and explore its many coves.

Alternatively, relax by the pool!

Overnight at Four Rosemead in a luxury room on a Bed & Breakfast basis.

Day 5
Breakfast and then self drive approximately 45 minutes out of town to the historic Wineland's area to play at the Stellenbosch Golf Club. After your round, check into your Winelands accommodation, the Village at Spier, a short drive from Stellenbosch Golf Course.

The Village at Spier is part of the De Zalze wine and residential golf estate, It is possible to take tours of the estate, and most importantly enjoy some wine tasting! There is a tennis academy, swimming pools and a Cheetah rehabilitation project located on the estate.

Day 6
Breakfast and then a short drive to Paarl and a round of golf at Pearl Valley Golf Club. In the afternoon why not take the opportunity to explore nearby Stellenbosch & Franschhoek and perhaps indulge in some wine tasting. Overnight at The Village at Spier in a standard room on a bed and breakfast basis.

Day 7
Breakfast followed by a round of golf on the De Zalze course, part of the Spier Estate. One of our favoutite courses, it has a less manicured feel but is every bit as picturesque as any of the other Wineland's courses, with stunning mountain views and a couple of large lakes to avoid! Overnight at The Village at Spier in a standard room, on a Bed & Breakfast Basis

Day 8
Breakfast and then a full day at leisure to enjoy the facilities at Spier, or drive into central Cape Town. Self drive in the evening to Cape Town Airport where you will return your hire car, before catching your overnight flight home.

Day 9
Arrive back early at London Heathrow Airport.

Day 1
Depart London Heathrow on your overnight flight to Cape Town.

Day 2
Upon arrival at Cape Town International Airport, you are met by your driver/guide and transferred to your Hotel to check in and freshen up after your international flight.

After lunch, your guide collects you for a Cape Town City Orientation Tour. Weather permitting, take a cable car ride which takes only 3 minutes to ascend Table Mountain, and gives stunning views over Cape Town and its surroundings. Once on top, viewing decks that "hang" visitors over the edge of the mountain offering wonderful photographic opportunities. The rest of your tour visits, the Malay Quarter, city centre, Company Gardens and the Castle.

Day 3
Breakfast, and then enjoy golf at Steenberg Golf Estate. The 18 hole championship golf course meanders leisurely through the Steenberg vineyards, pine forests and gentle waterways. The course features four distinct areas: Wetlands, Parklands, The Cape Flats and Fynbos.

Lunch is enjoyed at the Catharina Restautant, situated on the Steenberg Estate, named after the first owner of the estate, Catharina Ustings. Experience the captivation of flavours - tempestuous, exotic, contemporary & delectable.

In the afternoon visit the world-renowned Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden with its beauty and diversity of the Cape flora displays and for the magnificence of its setting against the eastern slopes of Table Mountain.


Enjoy a 7 Course Gourmet Dinner at the La Colombe Restaurant. Proud winner of Business Day's Restaurant of the year for '99, 2000, 2002/3 La Colombe offers French inspired cuisine with a distinctive Cape Flavour in a relaxed atmosphere. The daily creations are seasonal and chalked on a menu board in the French style

Day 4
After breakfast, embark on a full day Cape Peninsula Tour. Pass through Simonstown, a historical naval village and follow the coast to the Cape Peninsula National Park. You will be at leisure here to perhaps take a funicular ride up to the viewpoint, to see the traditional tip of Africa. You may see ostriches or small antelope whilst you drive through the Park. Stop at Boulders Beach to see the resident African (Jackass) Penguin colony. Walk among the huge granite boulders and explore its many coves. Enjoy lunch overlooking the ocean, before visiting Groot Constantia Wine Estate for a Cellar Tour and Wine Tasting. Groot Constantia Estate is where the roots of the South African wine industry lie and it is the oldest wine producing farm in South Africa.

Dinner at Ginja, situated in the trendy Bo-Kaap district of Cape Town. It occupies the ground floor of an old two storey building. First impression of the interior is that it has an "old warehouse" feel with its high ceilings and heavy wooden doors. However, the rich red walls and art deco fittings combine very effectively to produce a French Brasserie look which is both intimate and inviting.

Acclaimed chef Mike Bassett heads up the kitchen which offers an exciting menu of fine dining based on international fusion cuisine.

The well planned menu is both interesting and impressive with wonderful combinations such as the Double Lamb Cutlets with White Miso Gorgonzola Sauce and seasoned English Spinach, or the Venison Loin with Bitter Chocolate, crushed basil Potatoes and Shaved Vegetables.

Day 5
Breakfast. Early morning departure to Kleinmond, just outside Hermanus with an opportunity to play golf on the Arabella Golf Estate.

In 2003, the course was rated number 5 in South Africa by Golf Digest and number 2 in 2005 by Complete Golfer. It borders the largest natural lagoon in Southern Africa, and the 9th, 17th and 18th run parallel to the lagoon.

Enjoy Lunch at the Premiere Restaurant offering the finest dining experience imaginable, the quality of the food, the presentation, the service and the location of the restaurant itself are without equal. The restaurant was recently voted one of the Top 100 Restaurants by Diners Club. It also recently hosted the members of the International Chaine des Rotisseurs.

En-route to your hotel, visit the Hamilton Russell & Beaumont Wines Vineyards for wine tasting.
Transfer to the Lanzerac Manor Hotel in the Winelands.


One of the region's most distinguished examples of Cape Dutch architecture endures on this 300-year old country estate, preserving the elegant atmosphere of a gracious age. Settle yourself beneath the shade of an old oak with a blush pink glass of wine in your hand. The sun seeps across the Jonkershoek Valley and the first turf is turned on the Cape land now known as Lanzerac.


Dinner at the hotel's main A 'la carte restaurant, the Governors Restaurant. Which opens it's impressive, wood-panelled doors daily throughout the year. Classically decorated in rich jewel tones, this stately establishment is home to imposing portraits of past Cape governors, ensuring that guests dine in fine company. Day 6
Breakfast followed by a full day tour of the Cape Winelands.

Stellenbosch is also known as the "Eikestad", referring to its oak-lined streets and character. The architecture is particularly Cape Dutch and is very interesting, as well as being unique. Enjoy a cellar Tour and a chance to sample some of South Africa's finest wines. Visit the Dorpsmuseum, which is a village museum furnished in period style, depicting the way of life through the history of Stellenbosch - a very historical town. Founded in 1679, during the era of the Dutch East India Company, Stellenbosch is the second-oldest town in the country, and one of South Africa's most attractive and well preserved. Enjoy lunch at La Petite Ferme, in Franschhoek, billed as the food and wine capital of the country, before enjoying a second wine tasting.

La Petite Ferme is a coveted Top Ten Restaurant award from the 2004 Anniversary Edition of the revered Wine Magazine acknowledges La Petite Ferme's ability to offer patrons the opportunity to savour delectable cuisine. Day 7

Breakfast. Today, a leisurely morning with a late tee off at Erinvale Golf Estate. This Gary Player designed 18 hole championship golf course has fast become renowned throughout the golfing fraternity, both locally and abroad. Erinvale hosted the 1996 World Cup of Golf, where thirty two participating nations competed and found the course both a golfing challenge and visual delight. It currently hosts the annual SAA Open, showcasing the South African golfing talent.


Final Dinner at Bosman's Restaurant at Grande Roche. Indulge in this epicurean delight. The team of Bosman's chefs offer you a tantalising daily selection of their very best. This gastronomic encounter is served as a 12 course menu. To complement each course our trained sommeliers will gladly assist in the selection of wine from the hotel's extensive winelist and cellar.

Day 8
Breakfast. An early check out from your hotel followed by a round of golf at the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course, Pearl Valley in nearby Paarl. Return to your hotel to relax until the afternoon and then onto Cape Town International Airport for your flight homewards.

Early morning arrive at London Heathrow
