Mateya is designed for the discerning traveller, offering a graceful fusion of relaxed comfort in a stunning setting. The lodge caters for a maximum of  ten guests. As such, you are assured exclusivity, privacy and the very highest standards of personal care and attention at all times.

Nestled in the rocky outcrop of the Gabbro hills, the lodge, comprising dining, lounge, and relaxation areas, provides a high elevation, with uninterrupted view of the reserve. The suites are arranged in a radial configuration around one of the hills, each with a private, rim-flow pool deck and natural window sala overlooking the waterhole and plains. Huge marble bathrooms look out over the plains with glass fronted double showers and an outdoor shower area.

There is a therapist offering spa treatments and a small jacuzzi/gym area.

At Mateya you can expect the very best service and attention to detail. Meals are truly superb, from freshly baked apple strudels and brioche at the breakfast buffet to delicate sorbets and outstanding venison at dinner. In our opinion, the best safari lodge food anywhere.

Game drives are conducted in open sided vehicles and are equipped with night vision binoculars. They are also fully equipped with blankets and rain ponchos should the need arise.
