Chobe Chilwero borders the Chobe National Park, the second largest national park in Botswana covering an area of 10,566 km². Chilwero is a palatial river lodge and its name means “place of high view” in the local language of Setswana. The lodge sits above the Chobe River and offers unparalleled panoramic views across the islands and flood plains as far as Namibia.
Chobe National Park covers a diversity of landscapes ranging from riverine forests to floodplains and periodic marshlands. The area is home to the largest concentration of elephants in Africa, as well as an abundance of hippo, buffalo, antelope and lion.
Qualified professional guides lead game drives in customised open 4 x 4 game viewing vehicles. Chobe’s legendary sundowner cruises allow you to see game at the water’s edge and photograph some of the most spectacular sunsets in Africa. Fishing excursions are also available at an additional cost (pre-booking is advised.) On day trips to Victoria Falls, you can bungee jump, river raft, microlite, tether balloon, shop, tour the Falls, visit the cultural village, or go elephant back riding. Scenic flights over four countries are offered (at additional cost).
The main lodge area includes a lounge and dining room which are linked to outdoor viewing patios. The lodge has swimming pool, library, curio shop and a communications centre, which offers telephone, fax and internet access. A range of spa treatments are offered in a dedicated Africology and Thalgo spa with lofty views over the river.
