Designed by Gary Player, and the venue for the 1996 World Cup of golf, Erinvale's beautifully manicured par 72 championship course boasts some of the country's most challenging and spectacular holes. Erinvale's demanding front nine meanders through park-like terrain, with the holes running in generous playing corridors through the residential estate. There are a number of man made water features which add to the challenge.
On the back nive, the land climbs and falls dramatically and one seldom has the luxury of a level lie, as the course winds it's way around the foothills of the mountain with panoramic views of False Bay. There's scarcely an ordinary hole on the course, but the par five 13th which falls away dramatically and the par three 14th across water will linger in the memory.
The layout features unusual bunkering, some traps having a deep 'pot-bunker' character, while others have railway sleepers radiating outwards to unique effect.
