The Pezula Championship Golf Course is perched between the Knysna Lagoon and the Indian Ocean on the Eastern Heads. The dramatic coastal scenery is matched by the breath-taking holes that wind around the cliffs and are flanked by the fragrant 'fynbos' or indigenous wild plants.
One of our customer's reported that the course needs to be played at least twice, he thought you would be able to cut at least 5 shots off the score second time around. The first time around you are so busy admiring the amazing views!
The links-style course, designed by Ronald Fream and David Dale of Golfplan in California, features cool-season grasses and five different tee placements to challenge and reward every level of golfer. Few courses can boast such a spectacular design or setting. The signature hole on the 14th, is built right on the breach of the cliffs and guarded by enormous bunkers at the front.
The course represents a sweeping spectacle of fairways and greens rolling through the cliffs and coastal terrain. When the sea winds blow, this course can be a real hand-full!
There are no caddies or stroke savers available for the course, instead a cart is included in your green fee which is equipped with GPS Global Positioning. Whilst this is invaluable, it doesn't always give you the information you need about the terrain & on the blind tees this would be helpful!
This is very much a 'resort' course, the green fees are expensive by South African standards but it is a fun course in a great setting and we would recommend a round here if you are staying in Knysna or the surrounds. The course can be quite slow.
