Hidden amongst a grove of ancient milkwoods, and overlooked by a mountain range, discover a place where time stands still. A place for contemplation, relaxation and adventure. Tucked away near the picturesque village of Stanford, Mosaic is the Cape’s answer to the luxury African sanctuary lodge.
Lose yourself somewhere between ocean, lagoon and the glistening Overberg mountains. This 1,000-hectare property offers the fortunate few a truly wonderful guest experience. After a spot of bird watching from the seclusion of your private verandah, head down the board-walk for a hearty breakfast in the intimate dining room. Amongst the continental options, expect freshly baked muffins, farm butter, sumptuous fruit platters and home-made jams. Hot fare is prepared to order and, as with all meals, is made with love – built around fresh, seasonal and regionally sourced ingredients.
Daytime activities here vary from kayaking and quad biking for the more active to relaxing lagoon cruises and sundowners along the secluded 16km Walker Bay Beach coastline adjacent to Mosaic. You may also be fortunate enough to spot an endangered caracal on your way down to the historical and beautifully restored “Spookhuis”. This old property serves as a focal point for activities and has its own patio where light lunches are served and a lounge area for curling up with a good book. Stories are often shared back at the lapa where the heated pool offers another vantage from which to survey the lagoon and keep an eye on the prolific local bird population. Return to your cottage in the evening down boardwalks.
Rooms at Mosaic Private Sanctuary
The five cottages are generously proportioned under high thatch roofs and each boasts its own private slice of Mosaic’s breathtaking views. Foldaway glass doors allow guests to take full advantage day and night. Beds are soft and comfortable and baths are large enough to accommodate two as are the outdoor showers. Enjoy a complimentary G&T or order a bottle of local wine to sip in the privacy of your suite – best served under the glorious expanse of the star-filled South African sky or soaking in the bathtub.
It is difficult to recommend Mosaic to Golfers because you just won’t want to leave when there is so much to enjoy on site. If you are determined though, Hermanus Golf Club is about 30 minutes away and Arabella about an hour’s drive.

ReviewsIn our opinion: Mosaic is a fabulous spot with million dollar views, fantastic views and lots of activities. It is tucked away about a 30 minute drive from Hermanus and is a destination in itself. 2 nights are lovely, 3 would be even better!
