Shangri-La Le Tousserok

Shangri-La’s Le Touessrok Resort & Spa is one of the world’s most iconic resorts. Beautifully positioned on a series of small islands overlooking Trou d’Eau Douce Bay, the hotel is just 50 minutes drive from the airport on the east coast of Mauritius.

The hotel is the epitome of effortless island chic with a choice of elegant sea facing guestrooms, suites and exclusive villas. This stunning resort boasts a huge range of water and land based activities to suit all interests. Relax on the pristine white sands of a private beach; enjoy a round of golf at the championship Bernhard Langer-designed Ille aux Cerfs golf course or take a dip in the ocean. If that all sounds too strenuous,  indulge your body and senses at the luxurious Chi Spa and then dine in a choice of fabulous restaurants and bars.

Rooms at the Shangri-La Le Tousserok
All rooms at Le Touessrok open onto furnished sea-facing terraces or balconies and feature en suite bathrooms with walk-in showers. The contemporary styled Junior Suites feature cool colours, state of the art technology, funky egg-shaped baths, and beautiful ocean views. For the utmost privacy and luxury, stay in one of the three-bedroom Villas which are secluded at the end of the beach. Each Villa – there’s three in total – comes with discreet 24 hour butler service, private beach access and a private swimming pool.

Activities
Just a short boat ride away lie the resort’s two recreational islands. Take the hotel ferry across to Ile aux Cerfs, which is home to the Championship 18 hole golf course and an array of watersports available from The Boathouse and Dive Centre. Ilot Mangenie is the resort’s own castaway retreat, the perfect place to relax and while-away lazy afternoons, enjoying a barefoot beach lunch of fresh seafood and pizzas from the wood-fired oven. Horse riding can be arranged nearby.

Dining
The four restaurants cater for all tastes. Safran, the Indian restaurant run by Michelin trained chef Ramesh Bundi, serves a mix of street food – think tandoori salmon – with more highbrow dishes like jhinga spiced prawns. Fresh sushi can be enjoyed in abundance at Japanese restaurant Kushi and Republik Beach Club and Grill will satisfy those who like an informal beach side barbecue.

We suggest Shangri-La Le Tousserok for honeymooners and couples who have enjoyed a safari holiday in Africa and are looking for a few nights relaxing before they return home. It is also an ideal base for golfers not only because of the in house course, but its close proximity to the Links and Legend Courses at Belle Mare Plage.
