The 27 holes of championship golf, The Abu Dhabi Golf Club is home to the annual Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship played as part of the European Tour. With seven lakes, and 90 bunkers spread over the 162 hectare site the course provides a tough but fair challenge, with lush fairways, strategically placed bunkers and generous greens. The course has floodlighting making it possible to play well into the evening and take advantage of the cooler temperatures.
Designed by Peter Harradine, the planting began way back in 1992, accounting for the well established look the club presented on the day of its inauguration eight years later in 2000. The impressive and iconic clubhouse design has become synonymous with golf in Abu Dhabi and a familiar sight as a back drop to the HSBC championship.
The par-72, 7,600-yard Championship course provides a tough-but-fair challenge, with 18 holes of lush fairways, weaving through undulating terrain that features pockets of palms, ornamental trees and shrubs, as well as spectacular saltwater lakes.
The 3,299-yard, par-36 nine is more forgiving, making it an enjoyable experience for all players, especially those new to the game.
