Sefapane Safari Lodge

Sefapane Lodge offers affordable accommodation on the doorstep of the Kruger. Comprising of 31 Rondavels and 20 Safari Houses, Sefapane Lodge offers the ideal spot from which to explore the northern regions of the Kruger National Park and the surrounding regions.

The lodge is located just 1km for the Phalaborwa gate of the world renowned Kruger National Park and offers guided safari drives into the park every day. For guests that wish to self drive, it is ideally placed for daily forays into the Kruger.  Nearby is the wonderful and unique Hans Merensky Golf Course and we include accommodation at Sefapane as part of our Kruger Golf Safari Itinerary. 

The lodge is set in sprawling, established bush gardens encompass four rustic dams that play host to a variety of spectacular indigenous flora and birdlife. The main lodge offers a swimming pool, A la Carte Restaurant, bar as well as a separate children’s pool and jungle gym.

Rooms at Sefapane
The 20 Safari Houses nestle alongside the dams, with wrap around verandahs offering prime viewing of the prolific birdlife that have made Sefapane Lodge their home.  Each house is fully furnished and depending on the house, can accommodate from 6 – 10 guests in true relaxed safari style. It is the ideal holiday home for families travelling together.

The Deluxe Rondavels include a spacious sitting area, and en suite bathrooms. There are also four Family Rondavels that have 2 bedrooms with twin beds, 1 bedroom with a bunk bed and a full family bathroom (bath, shower and toilet).

Dining
Enjoy South African flavours in the Calabash Grill, under a Southern Cross sky. The restaurant serves buffet breakfasts, offers an A la Carte lunch & dinner menu and also caters for children with a kids menu. Stylishly decorated, the cuisine is a fusion of African dishes and a Western-cooking style.

Alternatively guests can enjoy dining under the stars in the outdoor boma, where a wood fired pizza oven offers a casual dining experience.

Activities
Sefapane offers  a range of exciting activities including wildlife encounters, cultural discoveries, the rich heritage of Africa and adventure activities for those seeking excitement.

Game drive within the Kruger National Park are guided by experienced FGASA qualified guides and in special designed game viewing safari vehicles.

There are morning, full day and evening safaris as well as evening bush barbecues in the Kruger Park, river safaris, bush walks and mountain-bike tours.  For those  wanting to explore further afield there are guided day excursions to the Blyde River Canyon, an animal rehabilitation centre and a cultural village tour.

Guests can fish in the Sefapane dam and there are plenty of bird watching options on the property. The well-known 18-holes Hans Merensky Golf Course is only a few minutes’ drive away from Sefapane Lodge.

Guided Kruger Safaris at Sefapane

  • Morning Safari (06h00-12h00hrs)

Set out at dawn for a safari in an open 4×4 vehicle with an experienced guide in search of the wildlife. This safari includes a picnic breakfast in the Kruger National Park.

  • Full Day Safari  (05h45-16h00)

Set out at dawn for a full day of game viewing in an open 4×4 vehicle with an experienced guide in search of the wildlife. This safari includes a picnic breakfast and lunch in the bush.

  • Evening Safari with Bush braai  (Summer: 17h00-21h30hrs; Winter: 16h30-21h00)

A sunset game drive in an open 4×4 vehicle including sundowners, a night drive with spotlights and a traditional braai (barbecue) around the campfire at a private location in the Kruger National Park.

  • Evening Safari
    (Summer: 17h00-20h00hrs; winter: 16h30-19h30)

A sunset game drive in an open 4×4 vehicle including sundowners and a night drive with spotlights before returning to the lodge.

  • River Safari, Morning or Sunset
    (Summer and winter: 07h15 – 11h30hrs)
    (Summer: 14h15-18h30hrs; winter: 13h45 – 18h00)

Enjoy a cruise along the banks of the Olifants River, amongst hippos, crocodiles and a variety of other drinking game and birds. Coffee and cake, water and juice are provided on the cruise.

  • Birding Safari (06h00-12h00 or 06h00-16h00)

The Birding safari can be a half or full day safari in the Kruger Park. This provides an opportunity to see raptors, vultures, endangered species as well as other indigenous birdlife. The bird tour will give you an understanding about the analogy of birds and their different behavioral patterns.
