Cape Town

Cape Town is a dynamic and vibrant city that is compact in size and easy to explore. We have a few suggestions we think you’ll enjoy, and we can arrange a private driver/guide who will tailor a programme of sight seeing for you, or we can deliver a hire car to your hotel and give you directions! You choose.

Take the Cable Car up Table Mountain – Cape Town’s famous landmark. It’s not always possible to get up if there are strong winds, but if you get the chance, the views from the top are magnificent. If you are feeling really adventurous, why not try abseiling down!?

Jump on the ferry from the Clock Tower at the V&A Waterfront out to Robben Island, infamous home to so many of the apartheid protesters including Nelson Mandela. Your guide will almost certainly be one of the former political prisoners, making the tour especially poignant. The round trip takes about three and half hours. We recommend pre booking your tickets as it sells out fast. Let us know if you would like us to help with that.

A day trip to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and the renowned Cape Point – spectacular place and a great day out of the city. Along the way stop off at Hout Bay and other small coastal towns where there is great souvenir shopping. On the way back visit the colony of African Jackass Penguins at Boulders Beach.

If shopping is high on your agenda, don’t miss the Victoria Mall in the V&A Waterfront development. It is the central focus of shopping & eating in downtown Cape Town with shops and many outdoor restaurants on the quayside.

Ten minutes drive from the waterfront is the area of Camp’s Bay. A great place to top up your tan by day and a fun place to visit at night. The main street is lined with bars and restaurants, we’ve some favourites we can recommend.

If all this sounds a bit tame how about a trip to Gansbaai, home to large numbers of Great White Sharks. You can either stay on the boat or be lowered into the ocean in a cage and see these magnificent animals face-to-face. Both are impressive, exhilarating experiences. The best time is Oct-Feb when your chances of seeing the sharks are at their highest. It is a full day excursion, with a two hour drive to and from Cape Town, but this, as they say, is ‘Awesome’!

Take a day trip into the Winelands if you don’t have time to spend a couple of nights there. We can arrange a day tour that includes wine tasting, a cellar tour and lunch. You will be picked up and returned to your hotel in central Cape Town.
