Namibia Highlights

Namibia Highlights is a two week, self drive holiday which starts and ends in Windhoek. It encompasses experiences that most visitors have on their wish list and which we think are the must-see sights too. There are 12 nights accommodation included, but if you would like to extend that, we can easily incorporate other locations or advise you in which lodges you might want to stay a little longer. We can also suggest a number of differently priced properties in each location to fit with your budget.

 Day 1: Arrival – Okonjima
Arrive at Windhoek on the first morning, where you will be met by our representative and assisted with the collection of your hire car. Make your way with our directions to your accommodation, at the Okonjima Bush Lodge, where you will spend the next 2 nights on full board. The lodge has ten en-suite double rooms and a secluded swimming pool surrounded by beautiful gardens where a variety of birds and animals may be encountered.

Home to the Africat Foundation, Okonjima is the best place in Namibia (and probably the world) to view and learn about the conservation of cheetah and leopard and is a must on any Namibian itinerary. Activities include cheetah radio tracking on foot, monitoring leopards from game-viewing vehicles and viewing orphaned cheetah cubs in the rehabilitation centre.

Day 3: Okonjima – Onguma Private Reserve, Etosha
From Okonjima you will proceed north to the edge of the Etosha National Park where you will spend the next 4 nights at the luxurious Onguma Tented Camp. Etosha is 22,270km2 National Park, home to over 110 mammal species, including black rhino, elephant and lion. From the lodge you can either opt to self-drive into the park or take one of the organised safari tours. In between game drives relax by the pool, and enjoy the superb food and hospitality of the lodge.

Day 7: Etosha -Damaraland
From Etosha you will head west towards the coast stopping for 2 nights at Mowani Mountain Camp. Activities include walks to see the bushman cave art, and game drives to track down the elusive Desert elephant and black rhino that survive in this inhospitable terrain. Back at the lodge enjoy the magnificent landscapes and relax by the pool with a sundowner or two.

Day 9: Damaraland – Swakopmund
Arrive in Swakopmund on the coast, Namibia’s second largest town and adventure activity capital. Sand dune skiing, quad biking, sky-diving are but a few of the adrenaline-raising activities on offer. You will spend 2 nights at the delightful Strand Hotel on a bed and breakfast basis.

Day 11: Swakopmund – Sossusvlei
From Swakopmund head south to the famous red dunes, where you will spend 2 nights in Sossusvlei at the Kulala Desert Lodge on a full board basis with drinks included. Don’t miss the chance to sleep out on your roof under the stars – they will make up a bed for you! The following morning get up early to see the sunrise over this stunning landscape.

Day 13 – Departure Day
On your final day you will head back to Windhoek to catch your flight to Johannesburg and connecting onwards flight home. You can also fly direct from Windhoek to either the Victoria Falls or Cape Town if you want to extend your trip.
