The Pezula championship golf course is perched on the cliffs between the Knysna Lagoon and the Indian Ocean. The dramatic coastal scenery is matched by the breath-taking golf holes that wind along the cliffs, and are flanked by the fragrant ‘fynbos’ or indigenous wild plants.
The course is one of our favourites and we include it in a number of our South Africa golf holidays that feature the Garden Route.
One of our customers suggested that the course really needs to be played at least twice. In his opinion, you would be able to cut at least 5 shots off the score second time around. The first time you are too busy admiring the amazing views! Every direction you look there is the sweeping spectacle of fairways, greens and the dramatic coastal terrain. But be warned, when the sea winds blow, this course can be a real hand-full!
The links-style course, features cool-season grasses that give you some additional roll, and five different tee placements to challenge every level of golfer. Few courses can boast such a spectacular design or setting. The signature hole on the 14th, is built right on the breach of the cliffs and guarded by enormous bunkers at the front.
There are no caddies or stroke savers available for the course, instead the carts are included in your green fee which is equipped with GPS Global Positioning. Whilst this is invaluable, it doesn’t always give you the information you need about the terrain and on the blind tees this would be helpful!
This is very much a ‘resort’ course, the green fees are expensive by South African standards but it is a fun course in a great setting and we would recommend a round here if you are staying in Knysna or the surrounds. The course can be quite slow.
Golf carts are included in your green fee.
We have a number of local hotels and B&B accommodation in Knysna that offer reduced green fees at Pezula, which we can utilise for guests.

ReviewsIn our opinion:
Ranked in the Top 20 courses in South Africa, we think it is one of the must-play course along the Garden Route. However the course is very popular and for that reason play can be quite slow.
