Jumeirah Golf Estates Fire Course

The second of the two Jumeirah Estate courses designed by Greg Norman the Fire Course provides a ‘fiery’ challenge for golfers of all abilities. While the Earth course uses bold colours and dramatic landscaping to provide its contrasts, Fire’s nuances are more subtle. Native grasses, wide open fairways and large terracotta bunkers give the course a more links style. Its design and position makes it more susceptible to the wind which also adds to this coastal feel.  Some of the fairways are flanked by the residential housing of the Jumeirah Estate making the course feel more compact.

Located in the newer part of the city, the estate is 15 minutes from the Marina and close to the airport making it easy for visitors staying in the Dubai hotel to reach it once the rush hour traffic has died down. Like it’s sister course, Jumeirah Earth, Fire is open to play for golfers on holiday to Dubai. We recommend playing both of the courses at Jumeirah as part of a golfing break in the city.

Overall the course is more forgiving than Earth, especially for the amateur golfer. The undulating topography and stunning natural features, give each tee a unique perspective, increasing both interest and the challenge. Tee placements offer variety, with length, direction and elevation constantly changing throughout the course. Strong bunkering has been carefully placed to catch wayward strokes, forcing players to concentrate carefully on their tee shot placement.

As for your approach, the design of the greens demand great importance on your positioning, so going directly at the flag may not always be the best option – a wayward shot could carry a heavy penalty.
