Carved into the rugged savannah of the south west coastline of Mauritius, is the first residential golf estate on the island, Tamarina. The estate is home to the 4* Tamarina Golf Resort & Spa Boutique Hotel, the golf course and 119 luxury villas which are available for rent.
The challenging championship 18-hole, par 72, golf course was designed by Rodney Wright, and is also home to a Golf Academy, practice facilities, tennis courts and a clubhouse with a Pro Shop, a bar and a restaurant – ‘Le Dix-Neuf”.
The course was opened for players in 2006 and has subsequently matured into a fine golf course. The fairways are wide and utilise the natural undulations of the original landscape. The signature hole is the long par 5, 5th which has a sharp drop off to the right side of the fairway with a river below. Course management is the key to playing this hole well.
