Kruger National Park
Probably the most well known safari destination in South Africa, the Kruger National Park is the size of Switzerland and Austria put together. There are all types of accommodation on offer and you can opt to self drive or enjoy a guided safari from one of the many lodges in and around the Kruger.
Madikwe Game Reserve
Highly recommended for families, this superb private reserve is located close to the Botswana border and offers malaria free game viewing. The reserve has the Big 5 animals plus cheetah and wild dog with game viewing every bit as good as its more well known counterparts.
There are several game reserves offering a safari experience on the Garden Route. They offer a malaria free environment and are convenient for combining with a holiday on the Garden Route. It is possible to enjoy a day safari or stay in one of the lodges.
Easily reached from Durban, the game reserves of KwaZulu Natal offer a wealth of game viewing and the added bonus of the nearby coastline should you want a bush and beach combination.
Located north of Johannesburg, there are a number of game reserves in the Waterburg. Malaria-free and great value for money, reserves such as Welgevonden offer game viewing on a par with some of the better known reserves.
