Simbambili Game Lodge

Located at the northern, top end of the Sabi Sand Reserve, Simbambili is an oasis in the bush. A small intimate lodge built along a dry riverbed and overlooking a floodlit watering hole. Watch the wildlife as you sip your cocktails on the deck or from the privacy of your own room. Log fires for the chilly winter evenings, plunge pools for the heat of the day and excellent game viewing especially for the big cats. Simbambili Safari Lodge will not disappoint.

In the evening, join the other guests for drinks in the lounge and swop your sightings stories, or relax and enjoy the surroundings from the deck. The lodge has a small gym and library with internet facilities for those who need to keep in touch.

Game Viewing at Simbambili
With 11,000 hectares of traversing rights, Simbambili has a fantastic viewing record with several leopards calling the area ‘home’. The Big 5 are represented here as well as some plains animals. The knowledgeable and friendly Rangers and Trackers do their very best to make sure you see everything possible. In our opinion one of the best safari lodges in South Africa that we strongly recommend to guests on a safari and golf holiday in the Kruger region.

Rooms at Simbambili
Only 8 rooms in total, the earthy tones and local artefacts give these stylish suites a truly African feel. Get lost in the enormous beds or treat yourself to a luxurious bath in the huge stone oval baths, big enough for 2 (but they take 25 minutes to fill!) The rooms are glass fronted so you can watch the game as you lie in bed or take your shower.  Don’t worry the Impala have seen it all before!

On your deck you will find a plunge pool, sun loungers and a ‘sala’ or day bed with a thatched room and muslin curtain walls, for that afternoon siesta. All of this is private & secluded, it’s perfect for those wanting to get away from the rat race and have excellent game viewing.

Dining
All meals are included, and are served on the deck or inside the dining area set back from the deck, but still giving excellent views of the watering hole.

Snacks and hot drinks are served before you leave on your game drive, and then on your return, there is a buffet breakfast with a choice of hot dishes. Depending on the season you will then be served lunch or a high tea of savoury and sweet dishes, such as salads and pasta before you head out for another arduous afternoon of game viewing! Dinner is a 3-course meal with a choice of main courses, and in the summer months it is served in the outdoor ‘Boma’. Rates include all house wines and local drinks.

In our opinion: This is a personal favourite of Out of Africa's M.D. This small, intimate lodge is beautifully decorated with stunning rooms, each with its own plunge pool and day bed. The game viewing is amazing, we loved everything about it.
